By Jude Clarke

Jude Clark of the IIIC recently returned from a trip to Ireland where he met with a group of Wider Horizons participants who are preparing for their placements in non-profits across Boston.

I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Omagh, County Tyrone to meet with the next Wider Horizons group, who completed their pre-departure training last week and are due to arrive in Boston Monday, August 8.

The organization which the IIIC is partnering with for this program is the Tyrone Donegal Partnership. I met with the leaders of the Tyrone Donegal Partnership to discuss plans for the group’s six-week stay in Boston. Among other things, discussions focused on the host organizations where the group will work, and on some of the social activities the group will take part in while in Boston.

I also met with each individual in the group – they’re all very enthusiastic about coming to Boston and starting their work placements in various youth and community organizations throughout the Greater Boston area.

If you or anyone you know is interested in hosting one of the trainees from a future group in your home, please contact my colleague Mark Fitzgerald at (617) 542 7654 ext.19 or email We would love to hear from you.

Note: Host families receive compensation – call for details.
