IIIC Executive Director Sister Lena Deevy LSA (far right) speaks at the Conference of Irish Organizations in Canton.

Over one hundred representatives of Irish organizations from across New England convened at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton last Saturday to share ideas on social networking, fundraising, event management and immigration issues.

IIIC’s Executive Director Sister Lena Deevy participated on the Immigration and Community panel, and spoke of the need for comprehensive immigration reform. A number of IIIC staff and board members attended the event and were inspired by the presentations and by the spirit of collaboration.

We were pleased to hear that a new community events calendar may be created for all organizations to coordinate future events, and we would fully support that idea. We hope that the conference will continue next year, and we thank all who attended for sharing their experience and wisdom. A special thanks to the Irish Consulate and the Irish Cultural Center for their vision and warm hospitality.
