Our recent Wider Horizons group is settling in well to life in Boston.  The 18 young men and women from Ireland arrived on Saturday, March 24th and were welcomed at the Old Dorchester Post in Dorchester by IIIC staff and their host families. One of their favorite orientation activities was to explore the city by Duck Tour where they got the chance to see Boston by land and by water!

The group jumped straight into their work placements last Wednesday and are now working in local youth and community non-profit organizations all over Boston including: Hyde Park YMCA, Dan Marr Boys & Girls Club, Bird Street Community Center, Sojourner House, East Boston YMCA, Casserly House, Yawkey Boys and Girls Club of Roxbury, Boston College Campus School (Eagle Eyes), East Boston Social Centers, Teen Center at St. Peter’s, South Boston Neighborhood House, Casa Nueva Vida, Artists for Humanity, Kroc Center, America SCORES Boston, and Teen Empowerment.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the organizations and to the host families for opening up their homes for six weeks to the young adults.
