It is always exciting to welcome a new face to the IIIC office. Earlier this month, the Learning Exchange Programs department added new intern, Tom Harrington, to their vibrant staff.

Tom, a student at Northeastern University, is studying International Affairs and is particularly interested in Western Europe and foreign policy. He is looking forward to assisting people from Ireland, as he is working primarily with Megan Carroll, the Director of Intern Placements for the J-1 IWT program.

“Tom has been an asset to the department since day one,” says Megan. “He has contributed his fresh ideas, great team spirit, and perspective.”

As part of Northeastern University’s cooperative education program, Tom will be interning for six months. He was drawn to a position at the IIIC because of its dedication to immigrant support and peace and reconciliation.

Tom recently returned from a trip to Ireland, visiting family in County Offaly. “The Irish people are so nice when we go over there,” says Tom, “I want to help them feel comfortable here like they make me feel comfortable there.”

The Learning Exchange Programs department and the IIIC are glad to have Tom as part of the team.
