The start of a new year has brought some new faces to the IIIC. Among them are two Northeastern University Co-op students: Gail Batutis and Sean Hansen. Gail and Sean are both interning part-time in the Learning Exchange Programs Department. Gail is working primarily with Megan Carroll, Director of Intern Placements for the J-1 IWT program, and Sean is working with Director of Learning Exchange Programs Ann-Marie Byrne and Program Assistant Erika Bareiss on the Wider Horizons program.
Gail is in her second year and is studying international affairs and political science, with the goal of one day working in international development and poverty alleviation. “I’m very excited to work here,” Gail says, nothing that the work will be great experience as it’s related to her studies.
Sean is also in his second year and is studying cultural anthropology and linguistics. He hopes to pursue graduate studies in anthropology, labor organizing, or non-profit work. Sean was drawn to the IIIC due to an interest in Irish culture and the immigrant experience in America. Sean is even Irish by descent, with relations from Galway and Antrim.
Gail and Sean will be with the IIIC through the end of June, and we are excited to welcome them on board as part of the team.
