QPR Workshop with seniors at IPC“One of the most beautiful gifts in the world is the gift of encouragement. When someone encourages you, that person helps you over a threshold you might otherwise never have crossed on your own.” – John O’Donohue

Encouragement was a large part of two QPR Suicide Prevention trainings first with seniors and then staff and volunteers at the Irish Pastoral Centre this past week. Danielle Owen, IIIC Director of Wellness and Education Services, led the groups through an hour and a half long workshop where participants learned about the 3 steps of Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) that can help save a life from suicide. She also explored what life is like for survivors and what you can do in a very simple, but practical way to reach out and break the silence and stigma that hinders the grieving process. Let change begin with us, in our community; let the IIIC help!  Contact Ann Marie Cugno if you would like to attend our next QPR Suicide Prevention training workshop at the Hancock Adult Day Center in Quincy Center on Tuesday, March 5th at 6:00PM.
