Named from the Gaelic word for “light,” the Irish International Immigrant Center’s Solas Awards are presented annually to individuals whose work is inspirational and who are committed to giving back to their communities. The IIIC is delighted to announce its 2013 Solas Award recipients:

John (Jack) Joyce, Managing Director at Deutsche Bank Securities. In recognition of his commitment to providing educational opportunities through scholarships for inner-city youth and as an adviser for IIIC’s internship program for Irish University students and recent graduates.

Joyce and Bill Cummings, Cummings Foundation founders. In recognition of their commitment to reducing violence, prejudice and intolerance globally and locally, and for their tremendous philanthropic example.

Raj Sharma, Managing Director – Wealth Management and head of The Sharma Group of Merrill Lynch Private Banking & Investment Group. In recognition of his commitment to promoting cross-cultural dialogue and understanding, and for his inspirational example of achievement and civic engagement as an immigrant himself.

John Hailer, President and Chief Executive Officer – The Americas and Asia for Natixis Global Asset Management. In recognition of his leadership in promoting philanthropy and volunteerism, and for his advocacy for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
