On Saturday, October 5, IIIC staff joined hundreds of immigrants and their allies from across Massachusetts in a march through Boston and a rally at Boston Common demanding changes in immigration laws and policies, from the passage of comprehensive immigration reform in the U.S. House of Representatives, to support for bills such as the Trust Act and Safe Driving Bill at the State House. The Boston gathering was one among 166 actions held throughout the U.S. on October 5 to raise a collective voice for immigrant dignity and respect.
Last Wednesday, five U.S. Representatives from across the nation introduced a bill that includes provisions from the Senate immigration bill, as well as the border security bill passed by the House Committee on Homeland Security. At the rally, immigrants and their allies demanded that House Speaker John Boehner allow this bill to move forward for the well being of immigrant families and the prosperity of our nation.
You can help too. Take a moment to call the speaker and ask him to support the bill. Phone (202) 225-0600.
