The Diversity Visa immigrant program (DV) is a United States congressionally mandated lottery program for receiving a US Permanent Resident Card (green card). The lottery is administered on an annual basis by the Department of State and makes available 55,000 permanent resident visas annually to natives of countries deemed to have low rates of immigration to the United States. Undocumented immigrants residing in the U.S. generally cannot obtain green cards through the DV Lottery.
The State Department Web site for the 2015 Diversity Visa program is now open — see http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1318.html for instructions. The deadline for applications is 12:00 pm on November 2nd, 2013.
